As mom and Phebs are coming for a visit, I was looking to buy some more dinner ware. Oh dear, shits are expensive. The aztec pattern set I like would cost me £5 for one bowl. One bowl!!! Figured I could do it myself, abit of google of course did the trick. All you need is permanent markers of your choice of colour, cheap white ceramic dinner ware, and an oven.
Bước 1: Đầu tiên tất nhiên là chọn họa tiết. Của nhà trồng được thì không có lý gì lại không chọn họa tiết yêu thích nhất của mình. Tớ vốn rất mê các họa tiết hoa văn cổ của Việt Nam, nên chọn ngay một họa tiết trên trống đồng mà tớ mê như điếu đổ. Còn muốn đơn giản và muôn đời đẹp thì chọn những họa tiết đơn giản như chấm bi. Thế rồi vẽ thôi. Bạn nào run tay thì vẽ nháp bằng chì trước rồi lấy bút dạ tô lên, còn tự tin thì vẽ luôn.
Step 1: Choose your own design. If you're not so sure, go with some thing simple and timeless, like polka dots. I chose an ancient Vietnamese pattern on a 5000 something year old bronze drum. If you're not so confident, work on a draft design with a pencil. I just winged it, of course, cos that's how I roll.
Bước 2: Bật lò nướng khoảng 250-300 độ, nướng trong vòng 20-30p. Tùy từng loại sứ mà thời gian nướng sẽ khác nhau. Các tình yêu nhớ trông chừng, nếu cẩn thận thì lấy ra test thử. Để lâu quá, thay vì seal vào mực sẽ bay màu. Giả sử có bị bay màu chút xíu thì các tình yêu vẽ đè lại những chỗ bay trong lúc bát đĩa còn nóng. Tốt nhất là làm thử một cái trước để biết loại sứ mình dùng cần bao nhiêu thời gian nhé. Sau đó để nguội, màu sẽ bám lại trên đồ sứ vĩnh viễn, rửa nước thoải mái mà không phai.
Step 3: Bake your work for about 20-30 mins in the 250-300 degree oven, depending on the ceramic you're using for the ink to seal in. If you don't bake it long enough, the colour might fade when you wash up. If you bake it for too long, oh oh, it will fade right then. Don't ask how I know. Do keep an eye on the oven and do a little test (wiping it with a wet cloth) if you're unsure. If you happen to bake it juuuust alittle too long, don't worry, just re-work the design when the bowl/dish is still hot.
